So now that we know – you know, that thing that we wish had gone a different way but didn’t – I thought I’d step out from behind the editorial curtain and give you guys a quick post about all the work that goes on – and all the people who help Mayim – before you see her looking flawless. (Mayim’s own reflections to come later today…)

Just like everyone else you see on the red carpet, Mayim has a stylist, Adena Rohatiner, who works with her to create her Emmys-weekend looks (including today’s dress, shoes and jewelry and those she wore to the parties over the weekend). Mayim’s makeup is by Linda Cowan, who – fun fact! – has done Mayim’s makeup since the Blossom days. On hair, we’ve got Campbell McAuley, whose own hair was so on point that I used the term “on fleek” to describe it (the first time I’ve ever used that phrase, by the way). You’ll probably hear more details of the prep process from Mayim herself, which is better for all of us because I can’t describe that stuff. 🙂

I was there to capture a few photos and as something somewhere between moral support, tech support and comic relief. PR dynamo Heather Weiss was there for a bit. Per Mayim’s pre-Emmys tradition, we ate some delicious vegan Thai food. Along with a  few other friends, we also had a Vine star in our midst – Chad Jamian, who has nearly 384,000 followers, shot some footage that we’ll get out to you soon…and then Mayim got into the limo and the rest of us went to our cars, went home and watched on TV.

Of course we’re disappointed that our founder didn’t get to take home an Emmy. And it’s an awards show cliche already that “it’s an honor just to be nominated.” But Team Mayim is very proud of her and about the recognition that this visibility as a nominee really does mean.

And we would be remiss if we didn’t recognize a core component to Team Mayim: all of you who shared photos and excitement in advance of the event, indignation at the outcome, and then supportive comments about the nature of winning, all with great love,  respect and appreciation for our GrokNation founder and the acting and writing work she has put out there in the world.

Maybe next year will bring another nomination, and maybe it won’t. But GrokNation and Miss Mayim will be here, bringing you thoughtful, provocative and funny content, and being appreciative of the support of our readers and her fans. Thank you all, and looking forward to grokking with you all!
