GROK Philanthropy

GrokNation launched GrokPhilanthropy in August 2016, in honor of our first birthday. The word “philanthropy” comes from Greek, and literally means “loving humanity” – but is now most commonly used to describe charity efforts, people helping people with money, time, energy, and love. Our first campaign supported NAMI Walks Los Angeles last October. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health advocacy organization, and a cause that is close to Mayim’s heart. Thanks to GrokNation readers, Mayim was able to raise over $12,000 for NAMI’s programs, which raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.

While that campaign and its links are no longer active, you can still contribute to NAMI by visiting their donation page. (And we’ve left up the gallery with the cute pictures of Mayim displaying some of the prizes that some fundraisers received during this campaign.)

Stay tuned for more GrokPhilanthropy in the months ahead!
